COLD SPRINGS - Cold Springs Eagles seek revenge on the Hanceville Bulldogs when the two face one another in the opener August 25 at Ray Talley Stadium.
It will be the signature game for opening week in regards to county competition, plus the Eagles trying to settle the score after Hanceville invaded Cranford Stricklin Stadium in 2016 and came home with a 20-8 victory.
That ended a four-year winning streak by Rod Elliott's Eagles on opening night. His Eagles defeated Decatur Christian in 2012 and 2013 and then rolled past Brilliant in 2014 and 2015.
This will be the first time the two have faced each other on Hanceville's turf for an opener. The Bulldogs lead the all-time series 5-2. Cold Springs is 0-3 all time at Hanceville, falling by the score of 32-0 when they played at Talley Stadium in 2009.
Elliott is facing his alma mater for only the second time in his 10th season at Cold Springs. Elliott is the winningest coach at Cold Springs, 50 victories vs. 45 losses, 31-29 in regional play.

Cold Springs Eagles warm up in Nicholas Johnson intersquad game May 24.
