Fairview stood even with Lawrence County as the opening set got under way. The Lady Aggies led 3-0 on serves from Daisy Manasco, plus a volley by Tess Bailey. Lawrence County went to work with middle hitter Lauren Mayes getting three consecutive kills that helped the Red Devils even the score at 5-5.
A kill by Micah Means and a kill from Mckinna Yearwood off a Means assist placed the score at 8-8. That was the last time the Lady Aggies would be tied with Lawrence County.
Lawrence County rolled off six points on serves by Braydee Scott and led 14-8. Fairview broke service with a a volley by Katie Ball, but was never able to slow down the talent of the No. 1 team in the 5A classification entering October.
Mayes completed the first set victory with two kills in crunch time after Fairview closed to 24-19 on a volley by Bailey with an assist from Means.
Game two was never a moment to enjoy for Fairview. Tracy Means' Lady Aggies got outperformed by Lawrence County, with Moesha McDaniel being a catalyst to go with the front line play of Mayes.
Bailey converted a kill that narrowed it to 7-3. From there, the Red Devils were on their way to controlling the set, getting back to back kills by Mayes, then service points from the junior and it was 20-5.
Lawrence County served an ace to complete the second set, putting Fairview in a must win situation to extend the match through the third game.
A slow start for the Lady Aggies resulted in Lawrence County getting a 10-3 lead on serves from Sami Parker and the solid play by Mayes.
Fairview showed some momentum on a kill by Abbi Taylor, two kills by Yearwood with assists from Marissa Donohoo. A kill by Abby Hogeland and two service points scored by Alivia Boyil had them back in contention at 18-13.
A serve into the net helped Fairview, plus a kill by Yearwood from an assist by Means, drew them in striking distance at 18-15.
Both teams traded out points with the score at 19-16 in favor of Lawrence County. The Red Devils then resumed control on the serve and up front, not letting the Lady Aggies prevent them from completing a sweep in less than one hour.
The Devils tallied five straight points before it was broken on a kill by Manasco with Boyil providing an assist.
Lawrence County got a kill on the next play and extended its current winning streak to eight. The Devils' last defeat was to 3A power Lexington in the Brooks Invitational September 23.
Fairview is 21-8 after the loss. The Aggies have gone 4-4 since the 23rd of September when they played in the Priceville Invitational.
Fairview has already clinched the 5A, Area 13 regular season title and will go into the Cullman County Tournament as the top seed too.
