Jamboree, August 25
Dafford Smith Stadium - Fairview
KICKOFF: 7:00 p.m.
SERIES: East Limestone 5-1
LAST TIME: East Limestone defeated Fairview 12-6 in 2005
COACH: George Redding (11th year)
RECORD AT FAIRVIEW: 63-44
2016 SEASON: 5-5, 2-4 in 5A, Region 6
FLASH NOTES: Fairview had to alter its schedule after North Sand Mountain experienced a conflict and was unable to make a trip to Dafford Smith Stadium after the two played in Jackson County last year.
George Redding was able to get in touch with East Limestone coach Jeff Pugh as the two agreed to play a jamboree contest, due to the Indians already at 10 regular season games.
The Aggies were able to get the game on the home turf with Fairview having a full home schedule on campus for the first time since 2013.
Fairview had to play home games at Cullman and West Point between 2014 and 2016 as the bleachers on both sides were torn down and rebuilt.
Rebuilding will be something the Aggies will go through on the field too. Fairview had 16 players graduate, losing key personnel in the backfield.
The Aggies spent the summer in numerous seven on seven assignments, developing a unit that will be led by left hander Dayne Black.
Fairview will have a 9-game regular season schedule, getting a bye week September 15. But the spirit of having half of the season playing in their backyard will serve as a valuable tool.
The Aggies need three wins to move Redding past Dafford Smith as the winningest coach in Fairview football history.
Smith has 65 victories in 11 years directing the Aggies with Redding at 63 wins, going into his 11th season.
