GOOD HOPE: Issac McDonald 19, Cole Maddox 15, Landon Freeman 8, Matt Dixon 4, Noah Fendley 3.
DORA: Kaleb Towns 12, Averiun Berry 9, Brent Geeter 8
FLASH NOTES: These two schools have learned about winning in area play on the road.
Both defeated the other as a visiting team.
It started with Good Hope pulling out a 71-66 win in Dora on December 15. Three weeks later, the Bulldogs return the favor, doing it in dramatic fashion.
Good Hope entered the fourth period trailing 39-32 and in need of offense. The Raiders got it from Cole Maddox, Issac McDonald and Landon Freeman, who combined for the 17 points in the final period.
Maddox scored the Raiders' final four points, hitting two from the foul line with 0:45 left that tied the score at 49-49.
Dora called time out at 18 seconds and set up for the game winner, with Brent Getter having a good look from the top of the circle, draining a three with 0:02 left.
Good Hope threw the ball away on its next possession, allowing Dora to run out the clock and get into the Area 10 win column.
The Raiders had four critical turnovers in the final 2:00 that would factor in for losing on the home floor.
Cordova currently leads Area 10 at 2-0 and will play Dora next Tuesday and Good Hope next Friday at home, trying to close out the regular season in area by going undefeated and hosting the area tournament.
UP NEXT FOR GOOD HOPE: Vs. West Morgan Saturday
Dora 13 5 13 14 - 45 (7-5, 1-1)
Good Hope 11 9 7 12 - 39 (6-12, 2-1)
GOOD HOPE: Erika Woodall 8, Kate Kent 8, Leyton Seal 9, Abby Neighbors 6, Rudi Derrick 4, Bailey Swann 4.
DORA: Deja Pendleton 14, Zharia Hubbard 13, Ja'Maya Harris 7.
FLASH NOTES: Good Hope was in the driver's seat, needing a victory that would keep the Lady Raiders atop the leaderboard in 4A, Area 10.
But Amanda Swann's ball club never got into a rhythm they needed to move closer of clinching home court for the area tournament.
The Lady Raiders were playing without point guard Savanna Derrick, who was sick with walking pneumonia and Kate Kent got into foul trouble, finishing the final 5:00 of the game on the bench with five personal fouls and only eight points in the battle.
Rudi Derrick, Savanna's younger sister, stepped up in crunch time, tieing the game at 36-36 with 2:34 remaining by hitting a pair of free throws.
But the rest of the way, the game belonged to Dora. Harris converted at shot at 2:28 to put them on top to stay at 38-36 and free throws by Kera James with 32 seconds showing, upped the advantage to 45-39.
Good Hope had some turnovers late that hurt the Lady Raider chances and Woodall was called for an offensive foul with 0:42 left that had her disqualified with five fouls and took potential points off the scoreboard.
Good Hope has an area game remaining next Friday at Cordova. Dora has to play Cordova twice.
If Dora wins both and Good Hope defeats Cordova, the two will be tied in area play and will need a coin toss to determine which school would be the host for the Area 10 Tournament.
Both teams did like the varsity, beating one another as a road team.
Good Hope crushed Dora 56-29 on December 15, but just could never produce the way coach Swann expected her team to do so.
