SERIES: Susan Moore 8-3
LAST TIME: Susan Moore defeated Good Hope 28-16 in 1995
COACH: Alan Scott (3rd year)
CAREER AT GOOD HOPE: 3-17
2016 SEASON: 0-10, 0-6 in 4A, Region 7
FLASH NOTES: The Raiders and Bulldogs play for the second consecutive year in a jamboree assignment with the game this season at James Shabel Stadium.
Good Hope won the jamboree last time at Larry Patterson Field. That was the only time victory wad witnessed by the Raiders, but unofficial.
A determined group of Raiders will look to erase a winless campaign as Scott approaches his third year at his alma mater.
Good Hope will be an experienced team this season, but still young. The Raiders had a lot of freshmen to take snaps on both sides of the ball with optimism for improvement very high on the list.
The Raiders will have the varsity to play three quarters vs. the Bulldogs, allowing Scott and his staff to evaluate the situation very carefully.
Then the Raiders can set their sights on the opener at Vinemont August 31. Good Hope will be able to scout Vinemont's jamboree on the 25th at East Lawrence in working through a game plan heading into the final week of August.
Susan Moore is under the direction in administration by principal Mike Stansberry. Stansberry is a 1979 Good Hope graduate and a member of the Raiders' first team to defeat Susan Moore (21-7 win in 1978).
Stansberry was an assistant coach for the Raiders in the 1990s, before moving to assistant principal. Stansberry is in his third year as the head man at the Blount County school.
The '97 Raider team that was 13-1, reaching the 3A semifinals, will be recognized at halftime of the jamboree game.
