At Jesse George Gymnasium:
Good Hope 10 14 16 19 - 59 (3-2)
Cold Springs 10 6 14 4 - 34 (1-4)
GOOD HOPE: Issac McDonald 14, Cole Maddox 12, Kallen Sharpton 11, Landon Freeman 10, Drew Maddox 6, Michael Lowe 6.
COLD SPRINGS: Hunter McClendon 15, Adam Hill 11, Logan Rice 2, Mason Harris 2, Dylan Byrd 2, Mical Calvert 2.
FLASH NOTES: Cold Springs knew its chance at winning depended on from keeping Good Hope to play an up-tempo contest.
With Adam McKinnon running the Eagles while coach Tim Wiloughby was in Atlanta with his wife Regina receiving treatment for her pancreatic cancer, the game plan was executed for the entire first quarter and most of the second.
Good Hope managed just four field goals in the opening period, not able to get the Eagles out of running a set half court offense. The Eagles matched them point for point with the game locked up at 10-10 through eight minutes.
Free throws from Dylan Byrd gave the Eagles a 16-12 with 4:27 remaining in the period. That was the last time the Eagles scored in the quarter as the Raiders tallied a 12-0 run to end the half and get the tempo where they wanted it, up by a 24-16 margin.
But in the third period after the Raiders led 30-16, the Eagles showed patience and stayed in striking distance, trailing 40-30.
The fourth quarter belonged to Drew Adams' Raiders, with Kallen Sharpton scoring on a layup via a steal and a 51-34 lead with 4:00 remaining. Good Hope allowed Cold Springs two made shots in the fourth by Logan Rice and Adam Hill and shut them out for the final 4:00.
The last basket for the Raiders was on a shot by Landon Freeman off an assist from Drew Maddox with less than a minute to go. The 19-point fourth quarter for the Raiders was the best of the game and allowed them to end a two-game losing streak.
Good Hope was coming off a 70-67 loss at home Tuesday to West Point.
Cold Springs returned to Jesse George Gym for the first time since November 17, but was not able to finish off a good start and lost for the fourth consecutive assignment.
