FLASH NOTES: One of these teams is going to find itself in the middle of a pack of teams that are 1-1 after Friday night. Both are looking to upgrade their performances after suffering one-sided defeats the past two weeks.
Hanceville has encountered No. 4 Addison from 1A and an undefeated Fultondale team that was the best in Region 6 last year. The Bulldogs have allowed 100 points in the last two games, being outscored 66-6 in the opening half.
What Craig Flanigan is looking for vs. a young unit from Vinemont, the ability to get RBs' Romeal Simmons and R.J. Evans around the ends as they were superior in week one, combining for 299 yards and four touchdowns to defeat Cold Springs 36-20.
If Vinemont has to kick, the Bulldogs want the ball in the hands of Brendan Flanigan. Flanigan had a 90-yard kickoff return for a third quarter TD against Cold Springs and a 45-yard return in the fourth period that set up a short TD drive.
Hanceville has been superior in this series with the Eagles since 2010, winning six of seven decisions. The only loss in this span was in 2014 when the Eagles rolled to a 45-20 victory at Vinemont.
All of the Bulldogs' wins under Flanigan have been vs. Cullman County schools. Hanceville is 4-1 against the county when Flanigan took the lead position on the sidelines last year.
