FLASH NOTES: Down 7-3 after 3:00 of the opening stanza, No. 2 seed Hanceville clamped down on West Point's offense and went to work with a 23-point run that carried well into the second period. Hanceville soared to a 26-7 lead on a field goal from near the basket by Ben Johnson.
West Point went 7:30 of the first half without getting a point as shots that would normally fall, didn't in the championship contest.
The Warriors fought back from being down 38-22 in the fourth to close to 42-20 with 1:40 left on free throws by Hawley.
But Hanceville concluded the game with a 5-0 spurt as Johnson got the final five points on two field goals, a free throw, a rebound and caught a fine pass from Taejon Jones to take home the main hardware.
David Miller's Bulldogs avenged an eight-point loss to Mason Voce's Warriors from the regular season.
"We did a great job on breaking their press," Miller said. "We gave our self a chance to score in transition. This is a great group of kids. They worked hard for this today."
