FLASH NOTES: Fairview was off its stride to start the match with Hanceville and the Lady Bulldogs capitalized by an 8-3 advantage on three straight service points from Savannah Hollingsworth.
But as the first set moved on, Fairview started to work its way back in contention, featuring Taylor and Yearwood at the front line. Yearwood tied the score at 12-12 on a kill, then good serving by Manasco and Marisa Donohoo, put the Lady Aggies up 20-15.
Hanceville shook off the nerves and pulled to 22-19 on a service point by Sadie Eddy.
Fairview then got a volley by Means, a kill from Hogeland and a volley by Manasco that allowed them for a comeback win in the first set.
The second game was handled by Fairview after it was even at 3-3. Taylor scored on a kill and another kill by the senior made it 13-10. Four consecutive points by Alivia Boyil, including an ace, enabled the Lady Aggies to up the margin to 18-10.
Hanceville was unable to make a huge dent into the deficit with Manasco serving well in crunch time, plus getting two volley points from Taylor that sent them home 1-1 on the day and 21-7 for the season.
Tri-match # 3 at Jim Boyd Gym - West Point
Hanceville 9 22
West Point 25 25
West Point (10-6) wins match 2-0
TIME OF MATCH: 0:37
FLASH NOTES: Selena Clark made it her own game in the opening set by scoring 14 straight points, with Hanceville unable to slow her down. She converted three aces and served well into the Lady Bulldogs' back row, presenting them with problems in trying to handle her serves.
The run was broken when West Point was called for two hits on setting the ball. But the set was finished off from Thompson, Sarah Chapman and Huckaby in serves and playing the ball around the net.
Hanceville didn't go away with a serious challenge. Amy Chambers' Lady Bulldogs fought hard in game two, leading by a 16-11 score when Regina Jones of West Point needed a time out.
That allowed the Lady Warriors to make their move. Shadix produced four straight on serve with aid by a couple of Hanceville infractions that got the set tied at 21-21.
Hanceville went back in the lead on a Karmen Johnson kill as it was 22-21. But the next serve landed in the net, giving West Point a tie as Thompson scored three straight on serve, with help by a kill from Carter and a volley from Huckaby.
It was the second time in a week span the Lady Warriors had won a tri-match on the home floor after not being able to finish matches vs. solid opponents a couple of weeks ago.
Hanceville had some solid efforts in the second set by Kierra Merriweather, Lauren Roberson, Hollingsworth, Malia Howell and Eddy to display a competitive side after getting controlled by Clark's serving in game one.
