FLASH NOTES: Hanceville was shorthanded on numbers Tuesday night, but not in heart and desire.
With PG Kelly Pickett handling the show for her team, plus scoring a game high 32 points, Hanceville came out with only six available and led after each period.
The Lady Bulldogs stormed to an 18-7 lead eight minutes into the contest and were ahead at the half, 34-23.
Hanceville was able to keep the lead in double figures during the third, building it to 47-30 on a three-point play from Karmen Johnson with 1:29 left in the quarter. The period ended with Hanceville ahead 47-33.
Christina Watson's Lady Bulldogs saw the lead go back to single numbers at 54-45 with 2:50 remaining on a three by Russellville.
The Lady 'Dogs missed two front ends of a one-and-one, but stayed cool under pressure when Pickett netted a pair with 1:19 to go and it was 56-45.
Pickett would toss in three out of four in a span of 17 seconds. She drained two with 0:17 to play for a 59-49 advantage.
Russellville got a three with 0:10 left, but ran out of time as Hanceville put together a total team effort despite only six in the lineup.
Malia Howell delivered 10 to the win, Johnson scored nine, Cassidy Campbell four, Mollie Hall and Hannah Flanigan added two each.
Leading Russellville was Treyvia Pruitt with 19 points.
