FLASH NOTES: Now that October has arrived, the Broncos brace themselves for quality challenges to close out 3A, Region 6 in trying to make it to the postseason for the second consecutive year under Mike Bates.
Holly Pond has been superior with a young team, especially in the backfield against inferior squads.
Now comes the toughest challenge for the Broncos to date, with homecoming part of the process for Friday night.
The Broncos have gone 4-0 at home this season and are 7-2 on the home turf since last season.
Holly Pond is 10-5 in regular games from 2016 to the first half of the 2017 campaign.
Locust Fork enters Holly Pond territory for the first time since 2003. The last road against the Broncos was a 29-7 final in 2001.
The winner of this game will certainly want to know immediately the score of the Fultondale-Pennington game that will be played nearby in Blountsville.
Both teams have Fultondale left on the schedule. Both have been defeated by Pennington with the Broncos losing 48-20 September 8 to the Tigers and the Hornets coming up short 20-14 the week after.
Holly Pond is currently in a position for a playoff berth. But the Broncos meet Hanceville, Fultondale and Vinemont the next three weeks following Friday's encounter with the Hornets.
