AGGIES & WARRIORS TO COMPETE IN SAME PASSING CAMP: ONEONTA - Fairview and West Point are among the participants that will be in the Oneomta High School 7 on 7 passing
camp next week. It just happens that the two Cullman County schools are in the same pool with 16 teams involved in the
quest to get in some valuable time with the passing offense and the passing defense as these camps have become a popular summer
item for prep teams in recent years. Fairview and West Point are in Pool C with Appalachian and Lafayette High School
of Georgia, coached by former Russellville coach Perryy Swindall. Pool A is Susan Moore, Guntesville, Springville
and Hayden B team. Pool B has Pinson Valley, Hayden, Mortimer Jordan and Crossville. The group in Pool D is Albertville, Oneonta,
Locust Fork and the LaGrange B team. The games will begin Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Galbreath Stadium on the Oneonta
campus. Each team will play three games in pool play with the tournament schedule to be Friday and Saturday. Fairview
and West Point will be playing its pool schedule Thursday. The Aggies will play Appalachian while the Warriors meet Lafayette
at 2:30 p.m. At 3:30 p.m., Fairview faces Lafayette and West Point takes on Appalachian. Then the Aggies and Warriors
clash at 4:30 p.m.to finish out their round-robin format. It will be West Point's first opportunity to experience work
against opposition under new coach A.J. Lamar while Fairview has senior quarterback Trett Hardman back to run the spread formation
for coach George Redding with the Aggies looking for a third consecutive winning program under his helm.
ATTENTION HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL & VOLLEYBALL COACHES: July
is a very busy month for these two sports with a series of team camps on the schedule. The Alabama High School Athletic Association
allows football and volleyball teams seven days in the summer time to participate in team camps with football involved in
7 on 7 passing skills and volleyball getting in plenty of team competition at different sites around the immediate area. Sportspage requests to area football and volleyball coaches to e-mail them a list of camps that they will be participating
in during the month of July so Sportspage can cover them on certain days. To send a list of assignments, e-mail the information

FLORIDA'S URBAN MEYER
TO SPEAK AT ALL-STAR SPORTS WEEK: HUNTSVILLE - Two-time college football national
championship coach Urban Meyer of the University of Florida will be one of several key people that will be in attendance during
the 13th edition of the Alabama High School All-Star Sports Week. The sports week will take place in the Huntsville area
July 13-17 with a series of All-Star games in the sports of baseball, soccer, softball, boys and girls' basketball and football. Coaching clinics in all sports will be held that week inside the Von Braun Center. Meyer will address the state football
coaches and other guests too on July 16 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:15 a,m,. Other notibale football coaches that will be at
'09 Sports Week include Alabama offensive coordinator Jim McElwain, Auburn defensive coach Ted Roof and Auburn offensive
coordinator Gus Malzoln.
NEW TIDE HOOPS COACH TO ADDRESS STATE PREP COACHES: HUNTSVILLE - In an opportunity to get more exposure for himself and his program, new University of Alabama basketball
coach Anthony Grant will speak to the prep coaches during the 13th Alabama High School All-Star Sports Week. Grant will
be at the Von Braun Center on July 17 from 1:15 p.m. until 2:15 p.m. to provide the state coaches in varsity and junior varsity
level his philsophy and the opportunity to come into the Southeastern Conference after coaching Virginia Commonwealth University
in the Colonial Athletic Associaition to success for the past three years. Grant is a former assistant coach to Billy
Donovan at the University of Florida and a valuable recruiter in heloing the Gators win back-to-back national championships
in 2005 & 2006. Current Missouri and former UAB coach Mike Anderson will be at the clinic on July 16 from 3:15 until
4:15 p.m. Basketball coaches in the NCAA this year will not be able to attend the All-Star games scheduled for
July 16 at the University of Alabama in Huntsville because of it being a "dead period" in regards to recruiting
seniors for the class of 2010.
