FAIRVIEW - A steady wind and under average temperatures never phased the play of the Hartselle Lady Tigers Wednesday in the Chesley Oaks Spring Golf Classic.
Hartselle got a 2-under par 69 by Mikayla Dubnik and a 3-over par 75 from Jinger Heath that guided them to the top of the leaderboard. Hartselle finished with a team score of 234, defeating runner-up Arab by 11 shots.
Arab earned a 245, guided by Grace Narrell's 6-over 78.
White Plains claimed third with a 249, tournament host Fairview was fourth at 276, Russellville fifth with a 280, Altamont sixth at 282, James Clemens taking seventh with a 285, Alexandria in eight place with a 297, Homewood ninth at 297 and Lawrence County coming in 10th with a 310.
Seventeen teams made up the event with a series of individual players taking to the local course two days after the varsity got in their round of 18.
Dubnik is a freshman for Hartselle, playing at Chesley Oaks for the third time in telling Sportspage after the awards presentation.
"I got off to a good start," she said. "The wind affected a lot of my shots. But I was able to keep playing my game. I stayed composed."
Heath is a seventh grader while Lauren Temples , who shot a 90, is in the eighth grade for the Lady Tigers.
Reagan Malone followed Narrell's 78 for Arab with an 80 while Autumn Tidwell carded an 87 to give them a total of 245.
For host Fairview, Emily Leigh Glover played the No. 3 position and shot an 88. Breliegh Roberts scored a 92 with Hope Bowen getting a 96 for the day.
The all-tournament team consisted of Dubnik from Hartselle (69), Heath of Hartselle (75), Narrell of Arab (78), Malone of Arab (80), Taylor Lever of James Clemens (81) and Hannah Dyar of White Plains (81).
The rest of the Top 10 individuals were Baylee Webb of White Plains (83), Lexee Cunningham of White Plains (85), Tidwell of Arab (87) and Glover of Fairview (88).
