MONTGOMERY - With the first round of the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) football playoffs set on Veterans' Day weekend, the state office has given teams the option to play either on Thursday or Friday.
School systems across the state will be closed Friday in observance of Veterans' Day. The AHSAA informed participating teams November 1 the option for round one. An agreement by both to move it to Thursday would be applied, or the game would remain on Friday, November 10.
In the North region, 19 of the 52 opening round games scheduled, will be played Thursday. All in Class 5A have decided to go on the 9th, while each game in 6A and 7A will remain on Friday.
Here is the schedule for Thursday games in Round 1 of AHSAA playoffs in and around the Sportspage coverage area:
1A: Hubbertville at Addison
3A: Holly Pond at West Morgan, Lauderdale County at J.B. Pennington
5A: West Point at Brooks, Lee-Huntsville at Hayden, Lawrence County at Mortimer Jordan, St. Clair County at Guntersville.
These games will be played Friday in and around the Sportspage coverage area:
1A: Meek at Pickens County, Holy Spirit at Lynn
2A: Reeltown at Falkville
3A: Locust Fork at Colbert Heights, Colbert County at Fultondale
4A: Deshler at Dora
6A: Cullman at Ramsay (Lawson Field), Carver at Austin (Ogle Stadium)
