FLASH NOTES: While Good Hope controlled Vinemont in spoiling Steven Robinson's debut at his alma mater, Holly Pond is 2-0 for the second consecutive year under Mike Bates with the Broncos beating Brindlee Mountain at home for the first time ever. They have evened the series at 4-4.
Cold Springs rallied from a 7-0 first half deficit and downed Berry to offset the tough loss on opening night to Hanceville. Berry came to Cranford Stricklin Stadium for the first time since 1998 and went back to Fayette County 0-2 on the season.
Cullman trailed North Jackson a couple of times in their first trip to the Chiefs' field since 2003. Cullman got a field goal and a touchdown in the fourth quarter to avoid coming back home winless in two tries.
Fairview thumped East Lawrence on the road in its opener. George Redding has 64 victories with Fairview now 8-3 under him in season openers. He is a win shy of tying Hall of Fame coach Dafford Smith as the winningest coach in Fairview history.
West Point scored a series of points, but was unable to keep Wilson out of the end zone as the team from Florence visited West Point Stadium for the first time.
Hanceville ran into No. 6 ranked Addison from the 1A rankings and suffered a hard loss. Addison has won four straight vs. Hanceville and now has a 12-game regular season winning streak.
