FLASH NOTES: Vinemont celebrated senior night for Cortnee Chaffin and Madison Harbison, looking to slow up a Good Hope team that ended West Point's winning streak at 10 assignments on Tuesday night.
Vinemont was able to challenge early thanks to good efforts from Cassidy Wright, Rachel Hall, Maddie Oliver, Mikayla Golden and Gracie Kennedy. The Lady Eagles were on the heels of Good Hope at 11-9 in the first set when a Good Hope spurt stretched the lead to 19-9 and the Lady Eagles were not able to overcome the issue.
In the second set, Vinemont got some points off Good Hope mistakes and quality serves by Oliver and Chaffin in pushing the lead to 15-7.
The game shifted when Good Hope's Kate Kent had three kills and a volley and steady serving brought the Lady Raiders back to tie the score at 23-23.
Vinemont was able to jump in front 24-23, but could not produce the set winner with Good Hope scoring three straight and sending the Lady Eagles to a 2-0 deficit with game three waiting to be done.
Vinemont was overcome by Good Hope serving well to start the set and could never make up a 12-3 deficit. The Lady Eagles broke the momentum for a brief moment on a service point by Golden.
But then the next serve went into the net, giving Good Hope match point and victory in the first meeting between the two teams this season.
Lance Lay's Lady Eagles will return a trip to Good Hope next Thursday.
