FLASH NOTES: Coming home to end the regular season, the Warriors have earned their fourth consecutive trip to the 5A playoffs under Don Farley thanks to a come from behind effort last week in Walker County.
West Point trailed 12-0 in the first quarter, then made adjustments to get control of the situation, using 240 yards rushing by Hunter Persall to lead the way.
The Warriors have gone 5-0 on the road in 2017, and struggled with one victory in four games in front of the home crowd.
Lawrence County is fighting for a playoff berth in 5A, Region 8. The Red Devils enter this week tied for the fourth slot with East Limestone and Russellville.
Lawrence County can get help Thursday if Tanner upsets East Limestone and come to West Point and win Friday. The Red Devils lose out on a tiebreaker to East Limestone, but have the advantage if they and Russellville finished tied.
West Point has been consistent with four consecutive winning seasons. Now the Warriors want to match a 7-3 record that was achieved in Farley's second season (2014).
The Warriors have posted a 16-10 record in regional games since 2014, showing they are very competitive when it's time to put the pigskin on the field in the fall.
