LAST WEEK: West Point lost to Wilson 42-24
Hayden lost to John Carroll 27-15
FLASH NOTES: A ball club from Blount County that was 16-7 the past two years, has started slow with losses to Weaver from the Anniston area, then going to Birmingham last week and falling to John Carroll Catholic.
West Point was unable to keep Wilson out of the end zone on a regular basis in the Warriors' home opener. The visiting Warriors scored four times in the first half to lead 28-10 and never let Don Farley's squad get the margin to inside single digits during the second half.
Quarterback Rylan Jones led the Warriors with a TD run and two TD passes, plus West Point scored on a field goal.
The series resumed in 2010 after being shut off from 2000 to 2009. Hayden has won its last two journeys to West Point, 34-23 in 2010 and a 42-26 shootout in 2015.
Now the Warriors want to get the series total even against the Wildcats, who were second best in the region last season behind Mortimer Jordan, finishing a game ahead of the Warriors, thanks to the 14-6 triumph in Blount County in game three.
West Point came back from the slow start to win six of its last seven games and make the playoffs for the third consecutive season under Farley's command.
